The 2020 twist on a classic French Mani/Pedi. Get in on the latest and biggest nail trend.
If you are anything like me, having your nails done can make you feel more confident and put-together, like nobody can tell you nothing! Am I right girls? Although it is the best self-care treat to go and sit at your fave nail salon, catch up on all the goss and walk out with a fresh set of beautifully done nails, we cannot always afford the heavy price tag that comes with it and more so, who knows when we'll be allowed to safely go and sit at our local nail salon with this lockdown in place. But the good news is now we've got some time on our hands, staying at home during lockdown provides us with the perfect opportunity to get up-to-date with the latest trends in nail art and colour schemes and to experiment with different colours and styles. In this post, I'll let you in on perhaps the biggest trend for the winter season 2020 for you to try yourself, and thanks to thisorthat.online's low prices we can stock up on our favourite colours, plus add a few trendy ones, because we can and we deserve it! So let's get to it.
The Updated French Manicure This trend involves a classic french manicure, but with a twist! I've seen this done by A-list celebs like Kylie Jenner, and by well-known nail artists, adding the coolest twists on to the tips of the nail with colour and lines. You can do this for a pedi too! Go wild with colours by doing an Ombré set, an almond or square shaped nail, and curved, triangular or squiggly tips.
TIP: First apply your nail plate colour, let it dry and apply the tip colour followed by a top coat.
1. Triangular Colour Blocking French Mani
Number 1: go off the nail tip into the nail plate with a diagonal stripe.
Apply your base colour and make sure it is completely dry, grab some nail striping tape (or for those who opt for the cellotape like me, get it girl, there's no time to waste!), create your triangular shape and apply the darker colour to the tip. Finish it off with a top coat (see below). I love this variation. It's strong, bold an rebellious. So why not?
Use the life proof polish by Sally Hanson Pink Tank Shade (R91) for the tips:
And the Sally Hanson Regal Rose shade (R91.00) for your nail plate available here: https://www.thisorthat.online/product-page/sally-h-miraclegel-nailpol-238rglrs

TIP: For Best Results: Apply 2 coats of Miracle Gel™ Color. Allow colour to dry for 5 minutes Step 2: Apply 1 coat of Miracle Gel™ Top Coat OMGel!
2. Squiggly Line French Mani
Number 2: Have some fun by free-handing some squiggly lines for the tip as seen done by New York Based nail artist, Julie Kandalec. Don't worry if you can't get them all perfectly the same - that's the beauty of it, it's your creation, your own unique art!
Use the Bare it All Xtreme nail colour by Sally Hanson for the base coat for R49.00.

3. Dark Tips, Fine Lines
Lastly, number 3: Twist up the normal white tip with black or I personally opt for my favourite dark purple for this winter. Check out the shades ONYX-PECTED or WINE STOCK by Sally Hanson.
